A grid is "magic" when all its rows, all its columns and both its diagonals add up to the same total. This total is given above each grid: it is the number to find.
Some cells are already filled in—they are part of the question and cannot be changed. You must complete the others.
Three tips to avoid mistakes:
- Eight totals, not three. 3 rows, 3 columns and 2 diagonals must all add up to the same number.
- No number is repeated in the same grid.
- There is only one solution. If all eight totals are correct, you have the right answer.
The method: look for the row, column or diagonal that has only one empty cell. The missing number can be found by subtraction. Once one cell is filled in, it unlocks others—and gradually, the grid fills up.
